OUR STORY
How The Coast is Made
OUR STORY
It began with a shoe that didn't exist.
For years, Diana searched for a single pair: refined enough for the evening, comfortable enough for the whole day. She never found it. So she built it herself — and that one pair became a collection for women and men.
From the inside out.
Most shoes are designed from the outside in — silhouette first, fit second. We reversed the process and begin with the foot: with fit, with comfort, and with the quality of everything that touches your skin.
Our leather is tanned without chemicals or chrome — soft enough to wear barefoot. For winter, our models are lined throughout in the finest lambskin. And because so many people wear an orthopaedic insole, the footbed lifts out entirely. Shoes you can stand in all day, without them looking like shoes made for standing.
Sneaker, loafer, monk strap, espadrille or ankle boot: every pair is handmade in Italy by a family-run manufacturing partner. Every model is limited and numbered.
A family.
The Coast is a family business. Diana designs; her daughter Alexa builds the brand alongside her. Some of our models carry the names of the people who shaped us — The Karin, for instance, after Diana's mother.
Words to walk on.
Inside every Coast shoe is a message — pressed where only the wearer will find it. We believe the words we carry influence the direction we walk.
Where we're from.
The Coast is designed in Heiligendamm on Germany's Baltic coast, the country's first seaside resort — white villas, cold sea, a particular kind of light. You'll find us online and in our two concept stores at the Grand Hotel Heiligendamm and the Kempinski Das Tirol in Kitzbühel.
